OUR STORY
Let’s introduce ourselves. We, your hosts are Manuela and Aljoša with our family.
We are both sucessful entrepreneours. Manuela is running her own company that deals with spatial and urban planning. Aljoša is a financial adviser, aswel as being an adviser for insurance and investments. Together we have 5 kids, that along sucessful studying, help us with work on our homestead.
Parents left us a this homestead in a small village Barka, that is part of the wider Brkini area. We decided to renovate a part of the homestead and convert it into apartments. We wanted to create a space, an oasis of peace where people can relax, unwind, and enjoy a piece of nature. The location is perfect for those who seek peace and quiet, as well as those who want an active vacation.
The homestead, as we know it today, was home to our great-grandparents Marija and Rudolf Kovačič from 1922 to 1986. Our lineage, however, goes back to 1652 when our ancestor was a miller at Strane Castle. The house name “Kapar” was brought to Barka by our ancestor Andrej Vatovec from Vatovlje in 1855, likely because he made hats, hence the name “Kaparjevi” (“kapa” means hat hence “Kaparjevi” means “of the hats”).
The Kaparjevi homestead is surrounded by beautiful forests and meadows that stretch across the picturesque hilly area. If you love nature, enjoy a hospitable, village atmosphere and the story of the harmony between nature and man, visit our apartments and experience the vibe of the scenic estate.
